My head’s spinning.
Yesterday, I woke up to Bolt thrashing on the hardwood floor, next to his bed. He’d tried to get up, and was completely dizzy and unable to maintain balance. He was obviously freaked out and the more he tried, the worse it got. I freaked out too.
The night before, around midnight I woke up to the sound of him throwing up. I got up and opened the door so that he could go outside, while I cleaned up the event. It’s not an unusual thing for him to throw up. Usually it’s because he failed to chew something before swallowing. This time was different, there was nothing to indicate the regular reason. It was all just sludge and kibble.
So the morning of the thrashing, we got up and tried to do the regular morning things which were impossible. He couldn’t go outside. He refused food and water. I was convinced we were at the threshold, again.
I called Lap of Love to see what scheduling the impossible looked like. They helped me through the process. I can’t begin to say great these guys are. Anyway, we talked about possibilities and agreed that after Cindy got home later that afternoon, we’d move forward one way or another.
When Cindy got home, she did her own evaluation and noticed a few things. Bolt was holding his head oddly at an angle. His eyes were doing this REM thing. Both of those symptoms, as well as his age and the equilibrium problem added up to a possible ear infection. If this is the case, it’s treatable.
So while yesterday, I thought another one of us was about to join you Lula, hopefully there’s a delay in the schedule.
